Multi-Day Trekking Expeditions

Trekking in Pakistan means walking beneath the greatest concentration of high peaks on earth. In a single region the Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush ranges collide, giving trekkers a choice of routes that runs from gentle valley meadows to the base camps of the world's mightiest 8,000-metre giants. As a licensed local operator based in Gilgit-Baltistan, we run guided treks across all three ranges, from short scenic hikes to full multi-day expeditions.

Our trekking holidays in Pakistan are built around your fitness, experience and dates rather than a fixed departure calendar. From the iconic K2 Base Camp trek along the Baltoro Glacier to a week at Fairy Meadows below Nanga Parbat, or a quieter route to Rush Lake or Rakaposhi Base Camp, every itinerary is privately guided and fully customisable. We handle porters, cooks, camping equipment, permits and transport, leaving you free for the walking.

Below you will find the best treks in Pakistan we operate, how they are graded, the best season to walk them, and the support we provide on the trail. From single-day hikes to serious high-altitude expeditions, every route is led by experienced local guides who know these mountains, valleys and glaciers intimately.

The Best Treks in Pakistan

The most famous trek in Pakistan is the K2 Base Camp trek, which follows the Baltoro Glacier to Concordia, the "Throne Room of the Mountain Gods", where four separate 8,000-metre peaks, including K2 (8,611 m), the second-highest mountain on earth, rise within sight of a single campsite. For committed trekkers, Snow Lake and the Hispar La cross the Biafo-Hispar glacial system, among the longest continuous ice highways outside the polar regions.

Closer to the Karakoram Highway, the Rakaposhi Base Camp trek sits beneath Rakaposhi (7,788 m), while Fairy Meadows offers the classic view of Nanga Parbat (8,126 m), the ninth-highest mountain in the world. Shorter high-value routes include Rush Lake, among the highest alpine lakes on earth at around 4,700 m, the Batura Glacier trek in upper Hunza, and the remote Shimshal Pass, a herders' route deep in the Karakoram.

Difficulty, Season & How We Support You

Treks in Pakistan span the full range of difficulty. Easy options such as Fairy Meadows involve short daily walks on good trails and suit families and first-time trekkers, while serious high-altitude expeditions like the K2 Base Camp trek and Snow Lake demand good fitness, prior trekking experience and time to acclimatise above 4,000 metres. The best season for most treks is June to September, when the high passes are clear of snow and the weather is most stable. Every trip is fully supported: we provide qualified mountain guides, porters or pack animals, experienced cooks, all camping equipment, and the trekking permits and national-park fees arranged in advance.

Trekking in Pakistan: Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best treks in Pakistan?

The best-known treks are the K2 Base Camp trek to Concordia, Snow Lake and the Hispar La, Rakaposhi Base Camp, Nanga Parbat Base Camp and Fairy Meadows, plus shorter routes such as Rush Lake, the Batura Glacier and Shimshal Pass. K2 Base Camp is the classic bucket-list expedition, while Fairy Meadows and Rush Lake are far more accessible for first-time trekkers.

How difficult is the K2 Base Camp trek?

The K2 Base Camp trek is a strenuous high-altitude expedition, typically 14 to 21 days, that follows the Baltoro Glacier to Concordia at around 4,600 m. It involves long days on glacial moraine, cold nights in camp and sustained altitude, so good physical fitness and some prior multi-day trekking experience are strongly recommended. No technical climbing is required unless you add the Gondogoro La crossing.

When is the best time to trek in Pakistan?

The main trekking season runs from June to September, when snow has cleared from the high passes and the days are long and relatively stable. July and August are the warmest and most reliable months for the high Karakoram routes such as K2 Base Camp and Snow Lake, while lower treks like Fairy Meadows and Rush Lake can often be walked from late May into October.

Do I need trekking experience?

It depends on the route. Easier treks such as Fairy Meadows need only reasonable fitness and no special experience, so they suit families and beginners. High-altitude expeditions like K2 Base Camp, Snow Lake and Shimshal Pass are best undertaken by trekkers who are comfortable with several consecutive days of walking and altitudes above 4,000 metres. We are happy to advise on the right trek for your level.

Are permits and porters arranged?

Yes. As a licensed local operator we arrange all trekking permits, national-park fees and government levies, and we organise porters or pack animals, cooks and camping equipment for every expedition. On restricted or higher routes we also handle the necessary paperwork and, where required, a licensed liaison officer, so you can trek with just a daypack.
